Systems that work.
In whatever world they live in.

Some problems are technical. Some are creative. Some sit right at the edge of both. Nominal Labs takes on the ones that don't fit neatly into a job description.

The work

Planning & Documentation
Most organizations and studios have systems that work but nobody has written down how. Step-by-step operational guides, architecture documents, platform references, onboarding materials, signal flow diagrams, and DAW templates — clear documentation that exists, is accurate, and that someone other than the person who built it can actually follow. Useful anywhere institutional knowledge lives only in someone's head.

Audio & Sound Organization
Sample libraries, sound effects, and production assets — organized, tagged, and findable. If you're losing time hunting through folders for something you know you have, that's the problem this solves. Delivered in a structure that fits the way you actually work.

Infrastructure & Networking
Devices deployed, networks configured, equipment talking to each other. Whether it's an office network, a home studio, or a small production facility — the same principles apply. Wi-Fi, VPN, access control, audio signal flow, interface routing, and the physical layer that everything else depends on. Clean it up, document it, and make it reliable.

Endpoint Security & Identity
Who has access to what, are your devices compliant, and is anything slipping through. Endpoint management, identity governance, and the compliance controls that auditors and leadership actually want to see. Available for select engagements.

Automation & Visibility
If your team is doing the same thing manually every week, that's a solvable problem. Automated workflows, scripted processes, and dashboards that surface what's actually happening — so decisions get made on real data. Available for select engagements.

Engineer. Musician.
In that order, most days.

Cleveland, OH  ·  Remote available

IT engineer by day, and still working on music whenever there's time. Formally trained in music composition, film scoring, and audio engineering — the technical side of both worlds has always been where things click.

Several years in enterprise systems administration — endpoints, identity, networking, security, and the Microsoft stack that most organizations run. Vendor certifications and platform preferences aside, the job is making things work and keeping them that way. Windows, Mac, or mixed environments — the approach doesn't change much.

The studio side never went away. Composition, audio engineering, and the technical layer around production. Some days it's about the music, some days it's about the gear and the workflow. Both matter.
